Workshop on regulation of district heating

On February 4, 2011, Ea Energy Analyses hosted a workshop for a number of governmental bodies and industry players in the field of district heating. Discussions focused on how policy and structure in the district heating sector match tasks in the future.

The main conclusions were

• the long-term framework for district heating should be well known and the tax system is crucial in this context
• research and development efforts need to be strengthened
• a task force could be created, with the purpose of showing the district heating plants what they can each do
• a joint revision of policy is needed

The workshop was held as a result of the framework conditions for district heating recently being put on the agenda in a number contexts.
