Ea Energy Analyses participated in a research project about development and testing of a flow battery based solely on fungal quinones. Aalborg University was the lead on the project, and the role of Ea was to prepare an economic analysis of the possibilities for using the battery in the electricity grid. Production and maintenance costs were used to determine the potential of commercialising the fungal flow battery.
At the end of the project, all results were be gathered and used to benchmark the optimal fungal flow battery against batteries in current use.
The project ran from August 2019 to December 2022.
