Ea Energy Analyses has assessed the framework conditions for Danish waste incineration plants compared with selected countries within the European Union. The purpose of the project is to evaluate the competitiveness of the Danish incineration plants as a consequence of the EU waste directive that is expected to lead to a liberalisation of the industrial waste.
The analysis estimates whether the industrial waste primarily will be imported to Denmark or exported to other countries as a consequence of anti-competitive differences in the operational costs of the plants. Among other topics, the report reviews the differences in indirect taxes and in electricity and heat prices that can affect the possible import and export of industrial waste between Denmark and other EU countries.
