IEA Wind Task 36 – Forecasting for Wind Power

Ea Energy Analyses was part of the Danish participation in the IEA Wind Task 36 Forecasting for Wind Power.

Forecasting is a key technology to make the energy transition happen, but there are various challenges when forecasting wind power, and the goal of the task was to facilitate coordination of efforts to meet the challenges.

The work was divided into three work packages, where Ea Energy Analyses took part in WP3, which focused on optimal use of forecasting solutions. Specifically, Ea carried out a review of existing best practices on how to measure the value from the use of probabilistic forecasts, leading to a proposal of the practices to follow going forwards.

The project ran until the end of 2021.
