With increasing amounts of wind power, developing the overall energy system into a more dynamic system becomes all the more important. A wide range of national and international activities are focused on the development of intelligent energy systems.
The development within computers, communication and power electronics opens up a whole new world of possibilities for developing the entire energy system. The new technologies may for instance be used to introduce demand response, including a better integration between electricity, heat and transport. Accurate timestamping of measurements and fast communication and data processing offer a range of new possibilities for secure operation of the electricity system and makes it possible to use the expensive infrastructure more efficiently.
Together with Syd Energi, Vestas, Danfoss, DONG Energy, EC Power and Siemens as well as the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Aalborg University (AAU) and DI ITEK (the Danish ICT and electronics federation for it, telecommunications, electronics and communication enterprises), Ea Energy Analyses has prepared a White Paper on the intelligent energy system. The White Paper describes state of the art in intelligence and dynamics in the various parts of the electricity system. Selected Danish and international initiatives and projects to promote the intelligent energy system are also described.
The White Paper forms the basis of strategic partnerships for intelligent energy systems with participation of the energy and IT industries, energy companies, research institutions, authorities and others.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has distributed the White Paper to Danish embassies.
The project was supported by the EUDP research programme under the Danish Energy Agency and SydEnergi, and was managed by the Danish Energy Industries Federation.
