Wind and solar to be quadrupled by 2030 – but where to place it?

Ea Energy Analyses has developed a GIS tool that can find the best placements for wind turbines and solar plants in the countryside, and for solar on roof tops.

The electricity production from wind and solar is to be quadrupled by 2030 – and the development is going way too slow today, with only one land based commercial wind turbine added to the network in 2023.

The GIS tool can support the municipalities in their planning of wind and solar. The tool has already been put to use in Lejre Municipality, which has a target of setting up new RE production that is able to produce 150.000 MWh a year by 2030.
