In this project, Ea Energy Analyses took part in creating an updated technology catalogue for Indonesia by revising the previous Indonesian technology catalogue from 2017. The catalogue contains an accurate and up to date presentation of various electricity generation and storage technologies, with regard to technical characteristics, costs and environmental impacts from today and projected to 2050.
The technology catalogue will support the long-term energy modelling in Indonesia and the development of relevant policies and business strategies for government institutions, private energy companies, think tanks, and others. The updated version can assist the work to achieve the government’s long-term renewable energy and energy efficiency targets and, not least, help to increase the electrification rate in Indonesia.
In addition, the catalogue enables future development of Energy Outlook reports and other modelling activities.
The selection of technologies in the catalogue was agreed on at a kick-off workshop at the start of the project, including the addition of new technologies and which of the current technologies that needed to be updated.
Capacity building within the Directorate General of Electricity in Indonesia (DGE) in developing and maintaining a technology catalogue, based on Danish experiences, was also a part of the project.
The project was carried out in partnership with DGE for the Danish Energy Agency, and it ran from June 2020 to the end of February 2021.
