The Danish government has initiated a new stage of ‘government to government’ cooperation with Indonesia on energy and energy efficiency. The objective of the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) is to assist Indonesian government agencies and other relevant stakeholders in developing relevant policies, strategies and solutions to increase the electrification rate and to achieve the government’s long-term renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) objectives.
In this project, Ea Energy Analyses provided technical assistance to the modelling team at the National Energy Council (NEC). The team was introduced to the Balmorel model and worked on developing the model and scenarios setup for the Indonesian Energy Outlook 2019. Ea provided an advanced development of the Indonesia Balmorel model and supported the Indonesian team on running the model effectively for the purposes of national energy projections.
Additionally, Ea Energy Analyses provided training in the electricity supply side of the Balmorel model for personnel in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), to enable them to adequately review and perform analysis of the power sector for the national and local policy making.
In a subsequent project in 2020, Ea provided modelling support for the NEC and MEMR once again, in relation to the creation of the Indonesian Energy Outlook 2020.
