Bhutan: Long-term national strategy and action plan for low-carbon development

Ea Energy Analyses has provided technical assistance to Danida, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Environment Commission of Bhutan. The objective of the technical assistance was to develop a long-term national strategy and action plan for low-carbon development to enable Bhutan to fulfil its commitment of remaining carbon neutral.

Emissions strategies for 2020, 2030 and 2040

The technical assistance included development of a model for scenario analyses of a number of economic and greenhouse gas emissions strategies for 2020, 2030 and 2040 and capacity building in model operation.

Possible interventions and financing

Using a consultation approach involving key stakeholders including the government, the private sector and NGOs, a portfolio of promising interventions in key sectors have been identified and recommendations provided on financing options.
