Power plant flexibility in China

Danish power plants are among the most flexible in the world, thereby assisting the integration of large shares of variable renewable power generation in the Danish power system. Ea Energy Analyses contributed to an analysis that investigated the value of power plant flexibility in a Chinese context, where curtailment of renewables has been a pressing issue. The analysis found that greater power plant flexibility can: Reduce curtailment of renewable energy, lower coal use and CO2 emissions, and reduce overall power system costs. The Danish and Chinese experiences were shared at a power plant flexibility event that took place in Copenhagen on May 24th, 2018 in conjunction with the ninth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and Nordic Clean Energy Week.
