IEA Bioenergy Task 32 – Biomass Combustion and Cofiring

Ea Energy Analyses has been appointed as the Danish country representative for IEA Bioenergy Task 32 Biomass Combustion and Cofiring.

IEA Bioenergy Task 32 is an international forum to discuss and share knowledge on biomass combustion and cofiring, where representatives from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, South Africa, Japan, Canada, and Denmark participate in biannual meetings.

The objective with the Danish participation is to communicate results from the Danish RD&D projects about biomass combustion and cofiring as well as collecting knowledge from the activities in other countries and to communicate these to the Danish network.

The next period 3-year period was initiated in Trondheim in May 2016 and the program for 2016-2018 already holds many interesting projects such as:

  • Strategic study for renewable heat
  • Contribution to strategic study on Bioenergy Hybrids
  • State of the art report on innovative CHP concepts
  • Expert workshop to disseminate results of research projects on new emission reduction concepts in stoves and boilers
  • Reports on consequences of real life operation on plant performance
  • Workshop on options for cofiring in existing/new power plants
  • Review on utilization of biomass and co-firing ash
  • Cofiring database to be updated

The work is jointly financed by EUDP and Ea Energy Analyses. The project is led by consultant and biomass expert at Ea, Morten Tony Hansen, who has previously served as the Danish representative for the task.

We regularly send out a Danish newsletter on the work of the task. If you wish to receive these, please write an email to
